Day 3 Horton in Ribblesdale to Austwick 9.3 miles including detour to Clapham for coffee

. A gentle day with some challenging stony tracks. Dry and cloudy weather.
We need to tell you about our horses.
Helen is riding Mac, a 16.1h 17 year old TB kindly lent by Emma who thought he deserved a 'holiday'! He (with Helen as rider) is proving to be number one gate monitor assisted by Finn or Milly if we hit a very easy gate!
Finn, Jan's trusty steed, is a chestnut  (or rather ginger to be honest like his mum) 3/4 TB with a touch of the Irish. 16.3h is a gentle but not always brave, giant. But today his courage has come to the fore, leading the way in territory he would prefer not to!
Milly, Sue's horse is proving to specialize in eating. The baby in size and years is keeping up with the big boys and is much easier to get on and off.
